INTERMEDIATE B PROGRAM (See tuition page for fees)
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Intermediate B Program is offered for all instruments - String, Brass, Woodwind, Piano, Guitar, Percussion/Drums, and Voice. There are five different areas of concentration: Voice, Jazz, Classical Instrumental, Piano, and Rock. Campers will receive instruction by our top level professional musicians and educators. Many of the 4 daily classes are held in a small group setting. Students will receive coaching on how to prepare for magnet school auditions. They will be exposed to more advanced students who will inspire and motivate them for the whole year! Many of our pre-college and honors program campers started in the Intermediate Program and now attend music magnet high schools. They will hear professional concerts and have fun performing in the camp talent shows and karaoke. This program is geared to students who will be entering grades 7, 8 or 9 in the fall AND who have had at least three full years of training on their instrument or voice. Beginners are not eligible to apply. Each session concludes with a final performance. Students attending both sessions will not repeat the same material learned in previous sessions
REQUIREMENTS
Students who will be entering grades 7, 8 or 9 in the fall AND who have had at least three full years of training on their instrument or voice are eligible to apply (Music grade level 2.5 - 4 for school music ensembles) Students should be able to read music fluently.

9:00 - drop off.
9:15 - 10:15 WORKSHOP - New this summer!
Each track attends its own workshop. This class covers the following subjects: music theory and ear training, music history and performance style, how to prepare for auditions, sight reading, and more. Each day will be something fun and different!
10:30 - 11:30 - ENSEMBLE
Each track will move as a group to their ensemble.
Vocal Ensemble - vocalists will learn the dynamics of performing in a small group setting. Correct vocal technique will be emplasized.
Jazz Combo - an opportunity for campers to get expert coaching in how to play in a small group setting. Campers will improve on fundamental jazz rhythms, performance and soloing skills. For all instruments.
Piano Ensemble - pianists will learn how to play together with other pianists in our state-of-the art piano lab
Orchestra - for all classical instrumentalists
Rock Group - Intermediate B rock group is essentially a fun and creative rock band that is made up of students that play guitar, bass, drums, keys, and sing. The group will rehearse classic rock tunes. During the rehearsals the band will focus on dynamics, timing, transition and tone. The focus of this class is primarily on classic rock.

11:45 - 12:15 - LUNCH In the Stanford Cafeteria, campers will be able to select from the grill (hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries), salad bar, pizza, hot meal of the day, and the deli. Also are fresh fruits, desserts, beverages, and daily specials.
12:30 - 1:15 - SPECIAL ACTIVITY
concerts, talents shows, karaoke, games, jazz jam session, rock jam session.
1:30 - 2:30 FORUM - New this summer!
This class is instrument specific and covers technique, practice and performance strategies. Students will have the opportunity to perform a prepared solo in a master class setting. Getting better at performing is what this class is all about!
2:30 - 3:00 Break and Snack Popsicles or Snacks (chips, cookies) are served!
3:00 - 4:00 ELECTIVE - New this summer!
Campers from all tracks will be able to pick an elective. This is a chance to use a second instrument, or to choose an elective in a style outside of your selected track. Choices include: Blues Ensemble, Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Rock String Ensemble, Songwriting/Composition, Chamber Music, Stomp, and Intro to Jazz/Rock Piano. (see descriptions under each Camp)

Jazz/Pop Studio Group - New this summer! Open to all instrumentalists! Join this large studio orchestra/band and play music out of the box!
Musical Theater - Always a camper favorite! Students participate in a mini-production of a musical complete with ensemble numbers, solos, basic costuming and choreography. Together, they study character development, improvisation and staging along with various acting exercises. Students will have fun and form life-long bonds as they work together at this intensive pace to create their scenes.
