"...it's not everyday that people get to meet Jazz legend(s) or the Miami Saxophone Quartet. The special guests were my favorite part. I also got to meet new people and enjoy everything with the friends I made. I really like everything about the UM camp..."

OUR ACHIEVEMENT LEVELS

Introducing our 4 Achievement Levels

After selecting your camp - Jazz, Rock, Classical Instrumental, Piano, or Voice, you will be placed in an achievement level based on the grade you will be entering in the fall. Please note that unfortunately we CANNOT accommodate beginners at our camp. Please read the requirements necessary for your grade level below. If you are not sure that you fit the requirements for your achievement level, please contact the camp. For example, a student entering 9th grade is performing at an 11th grade level (music level 4.5). Normally this camper would be enrolled in Level Intermediate B, however according to his music level, he should be placed in Pre-College. A letter from his school music teacher would be necessary in order to enroll in the higher level.

Intermediate A - Campers who will be entering grades 4, 5, and 6 in the fall and who have had a minimum of 2 full years of experience on their instrument/voice. If they are in a school ensemble they should be at music grade level 1.5 - 2.5. Students should be good music readers. Beginners are not eligible for this level.

Intermediate B - Campers who will be entering grades 7, 8, and 9 in the fall and who have had a minimum of 3 full years of experience on their instrument/voice. If they are in a school ensemble, they should be at music grade level 2.5-4. Students should be fluent music readers.

Pre-College - Campers who will be entering grades 10, 11, and 12 in the fall and who have had a minimum of 4 full years of experience on their instrument/voice. If they are playing in a school ensemble, they should be at music grade level 4.5 or above. Campers should be at a moderately advanced level of ability.

Honors - Instrumentalists or vocalists who will be entering grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 are eligible to apply. An audition demo and teacher recommendation is required. (see Honors Program for complete requirements). This program is designed for high school students who are performing at a highly advanced level, who are planning to be music performance majors in college, and who are seeking a performing career. If you are not accepted into the Honors Program, you will automatically be placed in the Pre-College Program. Enrollment to this program is very limited, you will receive confirmation within one month of sending in your audition demo/letter.
