"...it's not everyday that people get to meet Jazz legend(s) or the Miami Saxophone Quartet. The special guests were my favorite part. I also got to meet new people and enjoy everything with the friends I made. I really like everything about the UM camp..."
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Pre-College Program offers talented and serious young musicians the opportunity to interact with exceptional faculty and guest artists. The Program seeks to bring together students from diverse cultural and financial backgrounds to provide them with a college-level experience. The Program is open to all advanced instrumentalists and vocalists. There are five different areas of concentration: Voice, Jazz, Classical Instrumental, Piano, and Rock. Many of the 4 daily classes are held in a small group setting. Students are expected to practice their instrument and complete other class assignments in the evening. Each session concludes with a final performance. Students attending both sessions will not repeat the same material learned in previous sessions. All students will receive coaching on how to prepare for college auditions, as well as advice on careers in music.
