Out of all the music camps I have attended, I never saw a camp take a kid as young as seven and teach him to love and enjoy music the way this camp did....My experiences in the Young Musicians’ Camp have played a big part in my career choice. Next spring I will apply and audition for the University of Miami School of Music.

I am extremely proud to say that I have been able to work and volunteer at an institution that fosters talent and musicianship to musicians at such an early age....

...looking back into my childhood, I also realized that I've never had the opportunity to experience something like a "summer camp" for musicians … and then a camp with it's own Jazz influence also!

I just can't say enough good about the program and hope xxx can participate every summer.

I wanted to send you a quick note telling you how impressed my family & I were with the concert on Friday. It was an amazing concert. My son was very inspired by the older children & the counselors. The young musician’s camp is a wonderful program. Congratulations

The Miami Young Musicians Camp was fantastic. More specifically, I very much enjoyed the Jazz Honors Program. The people were all very friendly, and very easy to work with. The students, as well as the faculty, all had a deep appreciation for the jazz art form, and it was evident in the abundance of enthusiasm. I learned the most in Chuck Bergeron's Jazz Theory Class. His approach to teaching over the two week period truly made a difference in my musical career. If I attend The University of Miami upon my graduation, I will be sure to find Chuck and thank him again for all that he taught me. The dorms were wonderful as well. Your daughter was a responsible and friendly dorm counselor. When combined with Brian Tervo's flexibility and jazz background, I could not have asked for a better dorm experience. I met many people that I hope to keep in touch with over the next few years. Who knows, I may end up playing with some of them someday. Anyway, I hope this email helps to explain my experience at the camp. have. Thanks again for making this experience so enjoyable.

I cannot possibly convey the extent to which the Young Musicians’ Camp has benefited me as an aspiring musician. The daily classes I took at Young Musicians’ Camp, provided me with knowledge that I will use in my continuous striving at becoming a better musician and also to further prepare me for collegiate studies in music. Though these classes were the backbone of the camp, perhaps just as eye-opening were the sundry concerts provided to us camp attendees by various professional musicians. At these concerts I witnessed performances by world renowned artists such as Ira Sullivan as well as performances by members of the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music faculty. Such performances served not only to entertain, but more importantly to affix in my mind the high level of performance for which I should endeavor to achieve... Learning from the faculty of the Young Musicians’ Camp was an experience that I will cherish for quite some time. The members of the faculty of the Young Musicians’ Camp were models of scholarship, in fact I have said to myself several times that I would like to one day achieve a level of musicianship on the level of a number of the faculty members of the camp. I found that merely having a conversation with members of the faculty was an educational experience... I found the company of like-minded young people to be a very educating experience as well. I was able to observe the skill levels of other serious young musicians which allowed me to more accurately evaluate myself and make myself more prepared for collegiate studies in music.
